The Corona paradox

In this blog post, a Corona paradox parallel is stated towards your online privacy. If you are deeply effected by Corona please don’t read further. Concentrate on yourselves and your beloved ones.

Coronavirus disease 2019, the name “coronavirus” is derived from Latin corona, meaning “crown” or “wreath”, itself a borrowing from Greek κορώνη korṓnē, “garland, wreath”. The name refers to the characteristic appearance of virions (the infective form of the virus) by electron microscopy, which have a fringe of large, bulbous surface projections creating an image reminiscent of a crown or of a solar corona. This morphology is created by the viral spike peplomers, which are proteins on the surface of the virus (Wikipedia).

A crown is the imperial or princely headdress, T=the sovereign monarch as head of state. This is how many people approach the Internet. Free expression for everyone. Free and anonymous information space.

The crown paradox of internet freedom is in an apparently self-contradictory statement, which can only be true if it is false, and vice versa:

  • a global network of computers to route communications; crown
  • a world of information through the Internet; crown
  • “Free speech haven or lawless cesspool – can the internet be civilised? – Josh Halliday; crown or paradox?
  • provoking a dangerous collapse in the old order of civilised society; paradox
  • or a consensual hallucination experienced daily by billions of legitimate operators, in every nation; paradox
  • behavior that causes a dramatic increase in web traffic or social media commentary, especially when the behavior was ostentatious or controversial; paradox
  • browsing without any name acknowledged of a person responsible? paradox
  • keeping browsing information to oneself rather than revealing it; in in-cognito mode, inprivate mode, using VPN and The Union Route paradox

The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic is an ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It cannot be observed in everyday human interactions, except the effects: preventint the virus from spreading including travel restrictions, quarantines, curfews, workplace hazard controls, event postponements and cancellations, and facility closures.

Does the same apply for anonymous internet usage?
Anonymous internet use cannot be observed in everyday online web visits, except privacy awareness restrictions like internet cookie blockers, HTML5 fingerprinting prevention, incognito or private modus and using VPN and The Union Route?
